These players were part of one of the best seasons, if not the best, in 1956 or 1957. The games and results are listed. Good job, guys!
Okolona, Kossuth, Iuka, and Calhoun City certainly went home with their tails between their legs after those games.....

Something really jelled for us that season. We were invincible. Nothing went wrong and it was a pleasure to play with such a diverse and talented team.
The stats are:
Baldwyn scored 416 points.
The other teams scored a total of 76 points AGAINST Baldwyn.
"Nuff sed".
I think Coach Jobe being the great motivator had a lot to do with the success since all the best players were not very big.
Who was the quarter back??
Aaron Weatherford was the QB and a very good one, especially running the ball and more especially option run or pitch to trailing back plays. Dean Rutherford was backup QB.

Wasn't Aaron and Ellis Wayne Christian awarded Tombigbee Conference MVPs or something like that for this season?
It is likely that those two won the MVPs. They were so good and won so many awards it is hard to remember when they weren't being awarded a trophy or something.
Don't forget about the other two running backs: John Melvin Duke and Bud Reynolds. They were Mr. Inside and Mr. Outside as well.
very big fight between Booneville and Baldwyn spectators after Booneville fans tore down some fence and did some other damage.
We always had trouble with that town at ballgames.

That season (1956) we won the Tombigbee Conference, the Hospitality Bowl and were B-BB District 1 Champs. We had seven players on the All-Conference team.
